Detective Conan tells the story of Shinichi Kudo, a brilliant young detective who gets poisoned by a criminal organization and mysteriously shrinks into a child’s body. To protect his loved ones, he takes on the alias Conan Edogawa, hiding his true identity on the advice of his neighbor, Professor Agasa. He moves in with his childhood friend Ran Mouri and her father, Kogoro, who runs a detective agency. Using this as a cover, Conan secretly works to track down the criminals responsible for his condition while keeping Ran from discovering who he really is.
The series was created and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama, who also wrote Magic Kaito. Some characters from that series, like the phantom thief Kaitou Kid, make appearances in Detective Conan, adding crossover elements. The show features a wide cast of minor characters, each with their own motives, backgrounds, and suspicious behaviors that keep the investigations intriguing.
