Kang Pado is a young boy who helps his father run their rural farm, tending to cattle and growing fruits and vegetables to make a living. While working on the farm, he also attends high school, though the campus is quite far—10 kilometers away by land. His father, trying to make things easier, suggests a shortcut: swimming across the nearby river, cutting the distance down to just 3 kilometers. Being an obedient son, Pado takes his father’s advice and starts swimming to and from school every day.
But then, unexpected changes happen. Due to low enrollment, his high school shuts down, leaving Pado with no choice but to move to Seoul, where his sister lives. There, he’ll continue his education, facing all the challenges and experiences that come with high school life in the big city.
