The story follows a protagonist who wakes up inside a novel—not as the main character, but as a minor background character. The novel itself is a dark thriller where the male lead is a serial killer who targets criminals using black magic, making him a twisted kind of hero (imagine a magical Dexter or Batman).
Our protagonist, now stuck in this dangerous world, finds herself reincarnated as a homeless girl—not exactly the safest role in a story full of murder. Surprisingly, she ends up saving the male lead, who, in gratitude, decides to adopt her.
“Become my daughter,” declares the wealthy, powerful, and strikingly handsome duke.
Naturally, she’s terrified—she knows exactly what kind of ruthless killer he is. Can she really survive living with a man like that? But to her shock, he spoils her endlessly, constantly gushing about how adorable she is. He even commissions artists to paint her and poets to write about her cuteness.
The duke also has a son, who turns out to be just as doting. Before she knows it, the once-homeless girl is living like a little princess—though she’s had to get used to the occasional murder happening around her.
But now, at sixteen, a new problem arises: as a noble lady, will she be forced into an arranged marriage? The moment she brings it up, the atmosphere in the house turns tense.
She starts to suspect—maybe they never plan to let her leave?
With everyone so obsessively attached to her, is there any way she can escape this bizarre family?
