For decades, labyrinths have mysteriously appeared across modern-day Japan, bringing dangerous monsters and chaos in their wake. This upheaval gave rise to a new profession—Adventurers—who wield monster cards to summon creatures of their own, battling through these dungeons to conquer them.
Kitagawa Utamaro, known as Maro, is an ordinary high school student who blends into the background—until he sees a former friend suddenly gain popularity just by becoming an Adventurer. Inspired, Maro decides to take the same path, hoping for a taste of that social success.
But things don’t go as smoothly as he hoped. Simply calling himself an Adventurer isn’t enough to stand out. With only a handful of weak and awkward monster cards at his disposal, Maro has no choice but to dive into the labyrinths himself, struggling to prove his worth in a world that barely notices him.
