Haruma Kiki had always dreamed of being the graceful “follower” in ballroom dance, but as she grew older, her height kept increasing, making her feel like she could never pull off a feminine look in dresses or anything traditionally ladylike. Now in her second year of high school, she has mastered the “leader” role instead—until her dance partner unexpectedly quits.
Then, Toribami Michiru, a petite and charming first-year student, arrives wanting to join the ballroom club. Kiki asks her to be her new partner, but Michiru drops a bombshell—she only dances as the leader, and she insists that Kiki must be her partner.
