Nian Bing is the child of a fire mage and an ice mage. After his parents were murdered by the Ice Lord, he inherited their magical gems. While fleeing from the Ice Lord’s minions, he did something no mage had ever done—he cast fire and ice magic simultaneously. Exhausted, he tumbled off a cliff and was rescued by an old man. When he awoke, the old man fed him a meal so delicious it was unlike anything he’d ever tasted. It turned out the old man was a legendary chef, once known as a spirit chef, who was determined to make Nian Bing his apprentice.
